Your Chance to See the Amazing Jenni Schaefer Discuss Eating Disorders
by Laura Cipullo, Whole Nutrition Services Team
Recovering from an eating disorder is a difficult process, which is why it’s important to take advantage of all the resources available to you. I have many listed on an older version of my site, and today, I want to tell you about another — “Goodbye Ed, Hello Me: An Evening with Jenni Schaefer.” Jenni is an author and motivational speaker who has written a number of books on eating disorders, including Life Without Ed, Goodbye Ed, Hello Me, and her most recent, Almost Anorexic, written in conjunction with the Harvard Medical School. In addition to being a celebrated author and speaker, Jenni has personally struggled with an eating disorder, so she has a unique perspective on the topic.
On February 4 at 7:30pm, she’ll be speaking at New York University’s Torch Club at 18 Waverly Place, NYC. Jenni’s presentation is called “From Recovery to Liberation: Recover from an Eating Disorder and Fall in Love with Life.” This is a free presentation and you do not have to be a student at NYU to attend. Joining Jenni will be Michael E. Berrett, PhD, psychologist, and CEO and cofounder of Center for Change, an eating disorder center. His presentation, “Taking Care of Yourself While Helping a Loved One Who is in an Addictive Process,” is designed for families of folks with eating disorders, as well as those who have family members dealing with substance, gambling and sex addictions. It’s ideal for caregivers who struggle with providing support to themselves and the ones they love. I’m also proud to say that this evening is co-sponsored by iaedpNY, of which I’m chapter president. This should be an educational and life-changing event for so many, and I encourage all my NY/NJ blog readers, clients and friends to go. For more info on Jenni’s and Michael’s work, head to their respective sites here and here.
