Meet Reva Schlanger

MS, RD, CDN, LD

Reva Schlanger, MS, RD, CDN, LD, is a registered dietitian who specializes in treating pediatrics, adolescents, young adults and adults who struggle with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), Other Specified Feeding and Eating Disorders (OSFED), as well as disordered eating and orthorexia.

Reva’s mission is to help clients have a neutral relationship with food and body, ultimately resulting in a positive eating experience. Working with psychiatrists; psychologists; internists; pediatric, adolescent and young adult medical specialists, Reva believes in a multi-disciplinary approach and works hard at collaborating regularly with all team members for the benefit of her clients.

Reva graduated at the top of her class from Stern College for Women, Summa Cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics. She went on to complete her dietetic internship at New York University and was then awarded a Master’s Degree in Nutrition and Food Science. From there, Reva gained invaluable experience in medical nutrition therapy while working at NYC’s Montefiore Hospital. While training in pediatrics at Montefiore, Reva realized her passion was to specialize in working with clients recovering from eating disorders.

She has significant experience in various levels of care and currently works at the Eating Recovery Center, in The Woodlands, Texas as the Intensive Outpatient Program virtual registered dietitian.

Her clients include members of the Orthodox Jewish community where she uses her background in understanding and respecting traditional Orthodox Jewish values and incorporates them into her clients’ treatment plans.

As a runner, Reva understands using food as a means to optimize performance is of paramount importance. She enjoys working with athletes and educating them on how to nourish their bodies to prevent injuries and maintain energy. Reva works to help repair broken relationships with food and exercise and brings her own experience as a half-marathon runner to provide realistic and attainable solutions.

In her free time, Reva loves to cook and experiment with various ingredients to create nourishing and delicious kosher recipes for her family as well as her clients. Reva practices an ‘all foods fit’ philosophy in her daily living and incorporates this concept in her practice.

She is currently training under the supervision of Laura Cipullo to become credentialed as a Certified Eating Disorder Registered Dietitian (CEDRD). Reva also aspires to gain her credentials as a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES).

A huge animal lover, Reva can be found hiking or cuddling with her yellow Lab on weekends. She believes that animals have a way of keeping us mindful and helping us live in the moment. The joy and love animals have for their owners help us learn a valuable lesson on the importance of self-love.
