Happy Hot Tea Month! If you live in the US and have been experiencing the frigid temperatures due to the Polar Vortex, we feel for you. We, too, have been freezing in NYC these past few weeks. We’ve come up with a few warm beverages to help us defrost and warm up in these chilly temps!
Peppermint Tea
Serves 1-2
- A few sprigs of fresh mint leaves
- 1-2 cups of water
- A bowl or large cup
- 1-2 mugs for serving
Bring water to a boil. Pour into bowl or large cup. Add washed mint leaves. Allow to steep for 1-2 minutes, depending on how strong you like your tea. Remove leaves from water and transfer tea into mugs. Enjoy!
Honey Lemon Water
Serves 1-2
- 1-2 cups water
- 1/2 fresh lemon
- Honey
This is a rather simple drink, but we just love the soothing effect it has! All you need to do is boil 1-2 cups of water. Pour into a mug and add lemon and honey. Stir and enjoy!

Homemade Hot Cocoa
Serves 2
- 2 cups of milk (almond milk works well!)
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 2-3 tsp cocoa powder
- A sprinkle of salt
Heat milk in microwave or pan, stirring often, until it begins to boil. Add sugar, cocoa powder, and salt. Mix thoroughly and serve!
