Homemade Hummus

INGREDIENTS

  • 5 garlic cloves
  • 2 cups canned chickpeas, no salt added, drained, liquid reserved
  • 1/3 cup tahini (sesame paste)
  • 6 tablespoons lemon juice, fresh (2 lemons)
  • 2 tablespoons liquid from the chickpeas
  • 1  teaspoon salt
  • 2 tsp hot sauce (Tabasco works great)

 
Special Equipment Needed:

  • Food processor 

 
METHOD
In a large bowl, combine the chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, liquid, salt and hot sauce; set aside. Add garlic to food processor; mince.  Add the ingredients in the large bowl to the food processor and process until the hummus is pureed. Adjust seasoning if needed, and serve hummus chilled or at room temperature.
