Registered Dietitian and Bergen County mom, Laura Cipullo of Laura Cipullo Whole Nutrition Services in NYC launched the L’ifestyle Lounge, at 308 Harrington Avenue, in Closter, NJ in March 2017. It is the first wellness studio in the region that offers a comprehensive approach combining nutritional counseling with registered dietitians, along with yoga and mindfulness classes in an effort to promote a positive relationship with all foods for all bodies.
The L’ifestyle Lounge offers yoga (for all ages) and mindfulness classes that provide structured time to reflect inward, and nutrition sessions with registered dietitians. Founded by Certified Eating Disorder Registered Dietitian and Registered Yoga Teacher, Laura Cipullo, the L’ifestyle Lounge serves as a self-care studio for all body types and ages, to teach clients how to live, eat and move mindfully.
Using her 20-years of nutrition expertise in the prevention and treatment of eating disorders, diabetes education and family wellness, Laura created the Lounge as an extension of her NYC practice to provide the local community with a lifestyle approach (rather than weight-focused) to balanced health.
Laura’s “L’ifestyle” philosophy of positive nutrition and mindfulness permeates this weight-neutral studio. In an environment free from mirrors AND fad diet talk, clients learn to practice self-acceptance, build both mental and physical resilience, move with their bodies (for wellness, not weight loss) and use breathing techniques that counter stress. You can read more about creating your own “L’ifestyle” in her best-selling books, The Women’s Health Body Clock Diet and Everyday Diabetes Meals for One or Two.

The L’ifestyle Lounge offers clients the opportunity to finally change their relationship with food and their body, wholistically. The whole family can benefit from yoga on and off the mat. Learning to tune in to the body helps children build self-awareness and self-esteem. In order to allow ample time to cultivate compassion and a yoga foundation, as well as foster meaningful relationships with their class members, the children’s classes are offered in a semester-long format. Ages 16-years old through adult can drop-in for a variety of yoga classes, such as the Ashtanga-inspired Breathe and Bend or Buddha Flow (Beautiful). Choose which semester-long class or drop-in class is right for you and your family by clicking here.
Take a mindfulness class to learn how to meditate and / or just quiet your mind. Many of these classes are offered concurrently with the semester-long kid yoga classes to provide parents / caregivers an opportunity to unwind while their child is engaged in yoga. Use this time to learn how to adopt a mindful lifestyle. Read more about our mindfulness classes here or sign up for one here.
For those clients who are finally ready to liberate themselves from constant food anxiety, a session with a L’ifestyle Lounge registered dietitian will teach them how to honor their biological and emotional needs. Learn how to apply Laura’s motto, “Eat Kale and Cupcakes!” Book now or for more information on the L’ifestyle Lounge’s positive nutrition philosophy, see What to Eat:
Combining breath, asana and yogic philosophy with traditional physical therapy creates a mindful physically therapeutic experience, ideal for anyone with back issues, especially those healing from an injury or surgery. Join the Lounge;s registered yoga instructor and PT for a mindful physical therapy private session. Schedule by emailing the Lounge (physical therapy services may be covered by insurance). Our intentionally small classes, such as Happy Healthy Back, and our semi-private Practitioner-Assisted Stretch Class (3:1), correct alignment with different stretching modalities including manual therapy and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation known as PNF. The idea is to understand your body from the inside out.
Our Tai Chi program is a gentle, low impact form of movement, beginning with gentle stretching to increase energy. The flow of movement follows the 12 classical tendon exchange exercises to strengthen the tendon sand bones. The practice closes with “Tai Chi Long Form” to integrate mind & body for a balanced, healthy immune system. This class may help to decrease stress, improves posture and ease the aging process. All levels and ages are welcome. Tai Chi helps to bring the L’ifestyle Lounge full circle providing access to all people regardless of physical constraints. Chairs are available for individuals who need to sit during this practice. We encourage you to drop in for a class ($22.00) to experience the energy.
Every two months, Laura Cipullo and her yoga team offer a community discussion around a wellness book. All books discuss some level of healing, relationships, food, body, addiction and or mindfulness. some form Books featured and discussed have included Gorge, The Meaning of Life and the Weight of Being (Nov. 14, 2018). The next book club is January 17th, 2019. The book for discussion is Beautiful Boy.
